What is WSTEM?

Wauwatosa STEM (WSTEM) is an instrumentality elementary charter school operating within the Wauwatosa School District. The WSTEM educational approach centers on a two-year science thematic curriculum. At WSTEM, a majority of instruction takes place in a multiage setting with team-taught classes that emphasize the engineering design process through diverse learning opportunities. The curriculum incorporates teacher-created projects alongside established programs such as Engineering is Elementary and Project Lead the Way. However, STEM at WSTEM is not merely a purchased curriculum; it is a culture cultivated within the school community to fulfill the WSTEM vision.

Individual needs are met in a cooperative, supportive learning community through an engaging and challenging curriculum rooted in the sciences, technology, engineering and math.

The vision of Wauwatosa STEM is to provide a dynamic and inclusive learning environment where elementary students are inspired to inquire, investigate and discover the world around them and prepared for academic and career success.
